Who will play if both are fit?? Considering that Arshavin is assured place, the last AMF position is a huge question among many Arsenal fans..
Arshavin v.Persie Nasri/Rosicky?
Our front three...
Now we will compare their differences

Fan favourite..Winner:Samir Nasri by a large margin
He juz joined the club last year but is already proven to be a revolution.. especially his 2 goals against manure. Cant blame Rosicky cuz he had a very long injury.

Fitness:Nasri again
Need I say more? Rosicky is injury prone but he may be an Owen?? Who knows?

Long Shots:Rosicky duh
Arsenal 3 liverpool 1 says it all. 2 brilliant long shot goals. His technique for long shots is 1 pf the best in the world.

Tap ins: Sort of equal but Nasri has a slight edge
Juz see this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPX005dnOG4

Dribbling ability: Samir Nasri without a doubt
25 sucessful dribbles last season put him top among all Arsenal players

Experience:Without a doubt Rosicky
He is 28 this year and his experiences in Germany and Czech may help us alot.

Creativity:Equal
Both may come up with a killer pass or screaming goal..

Flair:Gotta say its Nasri
Juz look at his pass against liverpool to v.persie. And at anfield to Fabregas to set up the 1st Arsh goal

Goal scoring:Rosicky
Havent really see them in 4-3-3 yet so cant predict but at the moment is Rosicky.

Final score Nasri 5.5 Rosicky4
Pretty equal with Nasri havin a slight edge..

Rumours: I rmb hearing Wenger said Nasri can play in a defensive role. Which is currently Alex Song position but its unlikely with Song becomin a monster of player.

Factors to consider: We forgot abt Theo Walcott...
There is still another CMF position to fill(We cant always play Diaby)
Lastly, to equal to Barca, this position is impt cuz theirs is Messi

SO, its a future Ballon'dor winner against an experience Player
Its Master vs Apprentice
Its Talent vs Experience
Its Nasri vs Rosicky

Who should win?? U decide when u tag....

Post

Players who care.

Sorry for being stagnant for the longest time. Today I will be speaking about players who care about their game and why they will stay for their careers, lest they reach the golden age of 35.

ROBIN VAN PERSIE

Has recently pledged his loyalty to the club, spoke very publicly about it and really, it wouldn't hurt to keep him.

WILLIAM GALLAS

I have never quite seen a story quite like that of William Gallas'. Made the captain, and from prima donna to dedicated player, he is the only one who could possibly sit on the pitch and cry for his team. It's surprising that he didn't leave despite being stripped of the armband.

GAEL CLICHY

No-one plays quite like Gael Force. plenty of determination and verve, unwilling to give up and extremely quick on the ball, he never stops running. Give it to him.

EMMANUEL EBOUE

Being booed off the pitch is quite something that hurts players deep. Normally such players will shrivel and die, yet Eboue has the gut, the nerve to play at the level he plays at and talk with such authority. Was there ever such a great player?

ALEXANDRE SONG BILLONG

It hurts to be on the bench for three years, only to appear four times in the following season. How many people can resist the temptation, to go on loan, or get a transfer somewhere else? Alex Song personally requested not to get loaned off and thank god for that, as we have uncovered a real gem of a player.

CARLOS VELA

Like his friend Alex Song, he failed to appear for three years, due to a lack of work permit. Loaned off three times, Vela could have chosen to go to Juventus, Internazionale, Real Madrid and at one point, Chelsea.

And these are the players that will bring us to glory.

Post

Pre-season - As important as it seems?

What did the 01/02, 03/04 and 04/05 seasons have in common? Yes, there was a lot of silverware and a double in 02', but besides that, they each had a poor preseason.

When I say Preseason, I don't mean Barnet, Haladas or the likes of god knows what club. I'm talking about Inter, Rangers, PSG, etc.

It does not take a great preseason to have a great season. The purpose is to warm-up for the next season.

That being said, I would love to see the first-team in action. I've been aching for some good football.

Nonetheless, the preseason is for us to enjoy and for the boys to get warmed up and ready. Up to Columbia now.

Gooner10

Post

Bendtner - Goal-scorer or Target man?

Well obviously Bendtner picked up form later in the season after January, when he went on a mad scoring spree and was Arsenal's top scorer for the second half of the season, with 14 goals in total. An impressive tally for the lanky striker.

He scored some phenomenal goals but had a couple of sitters as well. Goals against Kiev, Newcastle and of course West Brom capped up a fantastic 2nd-half season for the Danish hit-man.

But is he really a goal-scorer? Or is he simply a target man?

He takes shots with aplomb but sometimes he simply drags the ball pointlessly. The former is a trait of a goal-scorer ( Messi, Henry ) and the latter a target-man (Drogba, Adebayor).

A goal-scorer is one who finished most of the chances given to himself. The target man is very Adebayor-esque and holds the ball for a large amount of time. He gets a decent amount of chances but sometimes can fail to finish the easiest of chances.

A good mix of two would be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but Nicklas at times has too much of either.

So we take a look at the raw statistics. Nicklas is 191cm tall and has improved his goal-scoring each season. He is also only 6 goals short of van Persie's goals and scored only 1 out of 14 goals against any of the big 6.

He is moderately quick but not as fast as some of his counterparts. Slower than Adebayor and Walcott, but obviously faster than van Persie, Denilson and Cesc.

He is right-footed and his left-foot is weak. Being 21, this is not too big a hindrance but the goals he scored were pretty good.

He isn't the type of player to roam around (Nasri) or inside (Inzaghi) the box but spreads himself towards the wings and cuts in. Another mix.

Not a poacher he is, but he does not keep the ball for as long as a standard target man might. Yet another shady comparison.

But here comes the defining stat: Nicklas Bendtner often scores only when next to a Flamboyant striker like van Persie or Vela, not Adebayor or Eduardo.

This is exactly what a target man does not do. He does not poach the goals from his teammates. Rather, he lets the RVP / Vela get the goal. What does this show?

AW probably thinks of him as a Kanu. The guy with the interesting flicks who can play with any type of striker.

But for me, he is a profilic goal-scorer in the making. Theo and Arshavin attack towards the centre. They take the ball and cut it in for the cross or cut-back. Cesc stays deeper while Nasri plays a free role, roaming around the park to take shots, receive and give killer balls. Cesc will as usual look for holes and passes.

4-1-3-1-1

Adebayor

Eduardo

Arshavin-Cesc-Theo

Song or new signing

Clichy-Thoms-Toure/Gallas-Sagna

Moony

The idea is even simpler. Adebayor waits in the box, Eduardo roams freely outside. Arshavin and Theo attack right from the wings and produces the crosses to Adebayor, and cut-backs to Cesc. A very literal plan. Cesc gets to take as many long passes and long shots as he wants with an anchor behind him. Song can do the job in the smaller matches, but unless he improves drastically or Wenger transfers a very good DM, they'll have to convert to 4-4-2 in the big games.

4-1-2-3 ( Barca )

Arshavin- Eduardo / Ade - van Persie

-----------Cesc---Nasri--------------

---------------Song?-----------------

Clichy-Thoms-Gallas/Toure-Sagna

-------------Moony------------------

Obviously this copies the exact Barca formation. Eduardo is the man who will finish off all the easy and moderate chances. Adebayor can also be used to add an extra dimension in height as long as he can play to his best, or at least with a heart next season. People question why van Persie plays out right. After seeing a recent game which Holland played, van Persie was cutting in from the right and taking shots with his left. This also gives him an advantage in the sense that he can have unpredictable cut-backs and crosses. Anyway, like in the case of Messi and Henry, Arshavin and van Persie run around like a bunch of gunmen, dangerously floating in crosses or cutting in for shots. Nasri and Cesc play the killer balls and take shots, while the anchor Song, or someone else stays behind. The only bad point of this formation is the lack of flank support and defence. Clichy and Sagna will have to sit back a little more and Gallas/Toure really has to sit in deep like Puyol, while Vermaelen ( Milito ) goes for the challenge.

What do YOU think Arsenal should line up with next season?

Post

Arsenal Credits

So anyway, after a moderately exciting season, we thank the people who have done it for us. Eduardo vs. Burnley

Song chipped the ball perfectly along to Eduardo who shook off his marker and hit it first-time with the OUTSIDE of his left foot. The ball swerved nicely into the top corner, and even Jensen at full-stretch could not save it.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uqgvvble_qk

Don't mind the annoying music.

9. Nasri vs. Man Utd (2nd)

13 passes by Arsenal, then the ball went to Fabregas, who set up Nasri. The Frenchman whipped it right into the top corner. van der Sar no chance.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BlhLMxqZHW8

Poise, Patience and then Penetration.

8. van Persie vs. Everton

Defeat looked certain, until Diaby lofted the ball from 45 yards out to van Persie. He cushioned the pass on his chest before crashing goalwards past an astonished Tim Howard.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=CA&hl=en&v=FcJXPM2Y6sg

Credit to Arsenalist again. Static for the first few seconds. Don't worry about that.

7. Arshavin vs. Liverpool (2nd)

The second of Arshavin's quadraple. He skinned Arbeloa before slamming the ball with an outward swerve to the back of Reina's net. Pure technique and class. The ball was so low off the ground and yet there was so much curl.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yy7g-68ckNo

Thank you Ramona.

6. Vela vs. Burnley

Arshavin passed shortly to Vela, who nutmegged a midfield before cutting through the Burnley defence and cheekily chipping it past a slightly incredulous Jensen.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4QP8_YcbN8

Thank you Arsenalite.

5. Theo Walcott vs. Villareal

Fabregas backheeled an Eboue pass to Walcott. The youngster cut inside and lobbed it past keeper Diego Lopez. Wonderful goal and by far the best goal he has scored for Arsenal.

See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hSpQV7apsNQ&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Farsenalist.com%2Fpage%2F2%2F&feature=player_embedded

Thank you again arsenalist.

4. Arshavin vs. Blackburn

Andrey Arshavin opened his account when Denilson played a long ball to the left flank. Arshavin dummied his way past Danny Simpson and smashed the ball to the roof from the most acute of angles. Paul Robinson left astounded.

Unfortunately I cannot provide the link but it is easy enough to find.

Thanks again arsenalist.

3. Abou Diaby vs. Aston Villa

A classic Arsenal counterattack. Diaby with a wonderful flick before passing to Eboue, who ran for 50 yards and returned it to Diaby. He finished with aplomb over Friedal.

Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8lhpzSOSbI

2. van Persie vs. Liverpool

Nasri with the long ball, van Persie controlled it with his knee before sneaking in a wonderful finish with his right.

Watch it here:

Number 1:

Emmanuel Adebayor vs. Villareal

Fabregas clipped a ball 20 yards forward. Adebayor chested it and in Rivaldo fashion executed a perfect overhead kick to earn the late away goal for Arsenal.

Watch it here:

Post

Stage 7: The 1-0s

Shortly after, Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge before earning a flurry of 1-0s against Bolton and Wigan.

Stage 8: The slip

Consecutive draws with many clubs and 4 0-0's in a row at the Emirates confirmed Arsenal's weak midfield without Cesc.

Stage 9: Arshavin arrives

Arshavin makes his mark against Blackburn and promptly assists 3 in 2 games.

Stage 10: The cruise

Needless to say, a goal-glut part of Arsenal's season. Really good as Arsenal thrashed a sorry Wigan side 3-0 in the Carling Cup.

Then came Aston Villa, supposedly the main contenders for a top 4 finish for the first time in the BPL.

Defeat was nothing compared to what followed. William Gallas was stripped of captaincy with alleged criticism against team-mates Eboue and Robin van Persie, with pictures of Gallas himself with a cigarette in his mouth.

City quickly dominated the game. Passes were misplaced by Arsenal, and the chances came at a premium. Song missed an easy chance and after Nasri's free kick was carelessly spilled by Hart.

Then the goal came. A mix-up at the back between Clichy and Toure sent Ireland on goal. He buried it top-corner.

The second half was an absolute shambles. Arsenal barely stringed 3 passes in City's half and their chances were promptly ended when Robinho expertly flicked the ball past a flapping Almunia. An absolute peach of a finish.

Then came the killer. Elano was given a penalty and he disposed Arsenal, sending Almunia the wrong way.

The victory was a deserved one for City had dominated the game.

Another season gone, looking to the next.

It couldn't have ended any better. Beattie with the OG, van with the double and Diaby with a sneaky header.

To finish it off, Barca destroying Manure in Rome.

A long, long sad season. It looked poor to start, good towards the end, and then faltered late on.

What were the different stages of the season? We dissect it and take a look.

Stage 1: The beginning

Arsenal 1-0 WBA

It was a poor start. Threatening they were, West Brom. They could get at the defence all day and we were lucky not to concede.

Fulham 1-0 Arsenal

A terribly disappointing result where Arsenal thoroughly deserved to be beaten. They were the weaker side in midfield and defence. Everything failed and halted.

Stage 2: The false recovery

Arsenal 3-0 Newcastle
Blackburn 0-4 Arsenal
Bolton 1-3 Arsenal

It looked very very promising, with Arsenal taking 9 out of all possible 9 points, and stopping in 1st. A draw away at Kiev surely meant Arsenal's form was improving.

Stage 3: Hull-verised.

Arsenal 1-2 Hull City
Sunderland 1-1 Arsenal

Then it happened. That famous Geovanni goal knocked Arsenal right out of 1st. The team was complacent, something which was going to be exposed week after week. A late equaliser from Cesc salvaged a point, but looking at it at that time, the title race was almost surely over.

Stage 4: The rise, then the massive slump.

A win against Everton and West Ham made things look promising, but the strangest thing happened against Spurs.

4-4. That was the scoreline.

The complacency was revealed, every weakness of the club was highlighted in that nightmare of a match.

Then came Stoke. Stoke City and they quickly raced 1-0 up, before shutting Arsenal out and killing them off in the 70+ minutes. Clichy grabbed the late goal but it was to be merely a consolation.

Stage 5: The light at the end of the tunnel.

After a goalless draw against Fenerbahce, it was time to face the toughest possible opponent in the league.

Manchester United.

Things came on to a crazy start, Almunia picking up a backpass from Mikael Silvestre. United were promptly awarded an indirect free-kick in the box.

Anderson laid off for Carrick but his shot was deflected off the boot of Silvestre.

Then Clichy raced along the left and skinned Gary Neville, before putting in a pacy high cross into the box. Rio Ferdinand was clearly beaten, and Bendtner was left with a good opportunity 8 yards from goal.

He headed high and the chance was gone.

Diaby later missed a golden opportunity as van der Sar was stranded, but a mixture of deflections from Giggs, Evra and Vidic ensured the ball was securely cleared.

Shortly after, a piece of brilliance from Cristiano Ronaldo floated the ball across the right flank. He followed up with a cut-back towards Anderson who was 9 yards out. He cleverly let the ball go through he legs and Wayne Rooney was left with a wonderful chance to score from 10 yards out.

The ball bobbled and he popped the ball up like a balloon, albeit a very important one.

Then the goal finally came. Sagna was fouled on the right flank and Fabregas delivered the free kick.

Dimitar Berbatov headed the ball to safety but it was not as safe as he might have imagined. Nasri lifted the ball with his right and in what seemed to be eternity, slotted towards the far post with his left peg. The crowd held its breath as the ball floated seemingly right through the United defence and landed with a light thump in the back of the net.

Then there was noise. Cheers. Unbelievable amounts of it. People all around the stadium hollering the Frenchman's name. Nasri cupped his ears and ran around like a mad dog who had escaped from his abusive master. At that moment, millions of people watching from their television screens were either ecstatic or incensed.

The replay showed that it wasn't entirely Nasri's goal. Gary Neville nicked it and narrowed the angle towards the middle of goal. van der Sar wasn't really watching the ball as it sailed past him and could only flail his arms to no avail.

Then imagine how Park Ji-Sung would have felt when he missed his opportunity. A good move from Ronaldo and Rooney released the Korean on the left, and he surged past Gael Clichy with surprising speed and verve. Then, on his left, he put one right across goal, only for Gallas to recover in time and put his body across goal.

Shortly after, Fabregas put his long-shot wide and Toure's header was narrowly wide from a Fabregas corner.

Then the dramatics returned. Ronaldo sent a corner flying towards the far post and from an incredibly narrow angle, Gael Clichy tapped the ball out of play when Anderson looked odds-on favourites to get favourable contact on the ball. It could quite easily have been an own-goal, but Clichy was rather fortunate.

Then Clichy came back to the fore, a free-kick from Giggs was seemingly headed away by the Frenchman. Replays later showed that it came off the Frenchman's right forearm rather then his head. Sir Alex Ferguson angrily waving his hands at the officials.

After 45 minutes of action-packed thrilling football, the referee called the match to half-time.

The discussions were short but intense. Paul Merson, on Match of the Day was complaining about Arsenal not having an anchor in the midfield, while Alan Shearer was chiding Man United's lack of striking options.

Mark Sullivan of New Jersey sent in a memorable email to MotD. " I think Nasri will notch his second of the day. The scoreline will be 2-1 to Arsenal, with Ronaldo and Nasri scoring."

Of course, Damien Le Tissier was first to mention that Man United had created marginally more chances and that Sagna was on a yellow card. He also criticised Arsene's tactics on using a 4-3-2-1 Christmas Tree tactic not unlike Milan's trademark formation, claiming that there was no physical presence at the back for Arsenal.

The match was promptly started at an incredible pace, Arsenal earning a corner within half a minute. The corner came to nothing but Arsenal stringed 13 passes before the ball landed at Fabregas' feet. The Spaniard looked around briefly. Theo Walcott was running diagonally, drawing Vidic alongside himself while Nasri lay alone outside the D.

He gave a quick quarter-second thought before neatly placing it to Nasri. His vision was second to none as usual, as Ferdinand predictably failed to mark Nasri. The Frenchman took a touch, gave van der Sar a sneaky look before putting his right foot squarely below the ball.

The crowd was silent, and everyone looked with suspenseful thought in mind. Then in a split-second - yells and screams all over the stadium.

For the second time Nasri had scored. Arsenal had lost against Stoke in their last Premier League match. Man United had won 8 matches in a row. But it didn't matter.

The scoreline read clearly in white: Arsenal 2
Manchester United 0

Then a chance was given straight after Nasri's second. Ronaldo pounced on a weak clearance and from a classic Pires angle, shot it right across the face of goal. What a disappointment.

The play was unstable and unusually fast. Both teams were playing for the win. United believed they were not out of it while Arsenal knew they could not do anything rash or risk losing the match.

Then Nasri burst through the lines and into the penalty box. Vidic was hovering above him. He was felled but the referee said nothing. The replay clearly showed a shirt-pull, and Nasri was denied a clear hat-trick chance.

Chances then came at a premium, with United pressing harder and harder, and Arsenal breaking faster and faster.

Approaching the last 20 minutes, a corner was well received by Almunia, but Carrick had kicked him in the chest in an attempt to take the ball from him. The referee showed a yellow card and Almunia was soon substituted after saving a tame Wayne Rooney header.

It looked grim and done for Man United until the 90th minute, when they finally scored. Giggs with a common cross that was cleared before he put it in for the second time. This time it rebounded off Toure to Rafael da Silva. He cushioned the ball on his chest before deftly curling one away from Fabianski with his left foot.

The Arsenal fans were getting nervous, and the United fans sensed a potential upheaval. Before long, the fourth official held up his important electronic board. The fans were dreading what they were thinking would be 4 minutes or perhaps 3 minutes due to Almunia's injury. The result turned out much worst than anyone thought.

6.

The board displayed clearly the number: 6.

The Arsenal fans groaned and blew imaginary whistles with high-pitched sounds. The United fans, however, were roaring in approval.

It was a nerve-wrecking 6 minutes. Time after time Giggs and Ronaldo curled cross after cross. Every single time it was cleared by Gallas until the very last one.

Rooney rose menacingly to reach it, as Ronaldo curled what looked to be the perfect cross. Sagna was beaten, as was a stranded Toure, who was busily marking Rio Ferdinand.

Then the hero of all heroes - Lukasz Fabianski rose up high and snatched the ball literally right out of Rooney's reach. He clutched the ball in relief as the clock ticked towards the 94th minute mark.

Soon then Toure called for the ball. United had half their team in Arsenal's half and some on the half-way line. Only Nemanja Vidic was left. Toure took the ball up from Fabianski and cleverly threaded one to Nicklas Bendtner. Rather then bringing the ball to the corner flag, he took his time, dragged the ball and eventually shot high from 14 yards out.

The fans desperately kept the ball but there was no keeping the final whistle. As van der Sar smashed his goal-kick towards the midfield, the referee looked up to the sky and blew his whistle.

The sound echoed around the Emirates resoundingly, fans screaming their approval as the match was brought to an end.

Forever what would be a Premier League classic.

Post

Just 2 hours from Kick-off. Bendtner probably should've scored late in the first half while Nasri should have slotted in the 20th. The second half was slightly more exciting, with van Persie nearly scoring another snap-shot.

Everton 1-1 Arsenal

Well, this shows how vulnerable Arsenal are away from home. Beating Hull 3-1 was surprisingly satisfying but draws away at Cardiff and Everton are really killing me. They'd better win it at the Emirates.

The first 10 minutes were Arsenal's, the next 30 Everton's, 5 Arsenal, 20 Everton, 35 Arsenal. I could go on and on but in any case, it was a weak match by Arsenal.

Robin van Persie saves our cake yet again with an absolutely brilliant finish ( Goal of the month again probably).

Djourou is definitely a key player with idiots like Gallas around, and Toure constantly on the bench. When will Arsene learn that Toure still is our rock?

Adebayor should be a sub. Maybe a super sub, I don't know. But he just isn't good enough. Play Eduardo or Bendtner. Bendtner is suddenly picking up in form and I can't wait to see him start again. (Did I just say that? O.o)

Almunia: 6.7 Not the best performance tonight, nothing more.

Clichy: 7.2 Gael Force was apparent and he was one of the more motivated players on the night itself. Cut inside the center at times but Adebayor accused him of giving shoddy balls.
Gallas: 4.7 Lazy, lazy Gallas steals the bad show as he fantastically relaxes in defence, while Toure might have been protecting the flanks.
Djourou: 7.4 Great performance from our brand new Key Player, looks like a tall Cannavaro, making those crucial blocks, tackles, and block tackles.
Sagna: 7.4 The most motivated of the lot, showed his determinations with strong runs forward through Arteta.

Nasri: 7.2 Touches of silk, along with trademark turnarounds made Pienaar confused at times. Tried the occasional cross, and one which van Persie should have finished.
Denilson: 6.8 Why did Wenger play him deep and wide? Looked like Eboue in central midfield and had shots that made Bramble look presentable.
Song: 7.0 Tried his very best to boss the midfield but failed. Sidewards passing all game, never defensively sound.
Diaby: 7.1 Midfield General not so much, tricky Ljungberg, more likely. Was courageous but it never really amounted to anything besides the great 50-yard pass to van Persie.

van Persie: 8.3 A goal-scoring Dynamo, has beaten his all-time Arsenal goal/assist record with 13 goals and 12 assists in 27 games. A brilliant finish in the 92nd minute to steal a point for Arsenal. Curled outwards with his left foot, steering it past Howard and into the top-middle right-hand corner.

Adebayor: 4.8 God, is he really ours? Or is his heart with Milan? Lazy like Gallas, refused to participate, opting to reprimand his teammates every 10 minutes.

MAN OF THE MATCH: ROBIN VAN PERSIE (11) Rating: 8.3 Resembles: Thierry Henry
FLOP OF THE MATCH: WILLIAM GALLAS (10) Rating: 4.7 Resembles: Pascal Cygan

post

Arsenal 1-0 Megson

Ferguson, Wenger, Scolari, Benitez, O'neill, Megson. Megson? Who the hell is Megson or medicine?

Some knob who refuses to lose to teams clearly of higher quality.

Was on hiatus. From the match-recap, they were apparently owning the match as usual.

Anyway, the ratings:

Manuel Almunia 6.3 : Looked shaky at all times, but saved well from Vaz Te late in the game.

Gael Clichy 7.3 : Gael Force as usual showing why he still is a candidate for captaincy gave van Persie a perfect opportunity with a cutting pass.

Kolo Toure 7.5 : Did well to tackle Elmander and eventually injured him. Not bad for a stand-in captain. Also had an audacious shot from 30 yards.

Johann Djourou 7.2 : The freakily tall centre-back headed well and is getting rather consistent.

Bakary Sagna 7.2 : Used his speed to overwhelm Davies. Another consistent one from the world's 2nd best Full-back.

Samir Nasri: 7.9: Was the only midfielder who tried slicing passes. It worked magically too! Silky and tricky all game.

Denilson 6.5: Never really eager in the game, pretty lazy overall.

Diaby 5.8: Does remind me of Berbatov, lazy like hell and misplaces several passes.

Eboue 6.2: LOL does he really want to change? Looks as if he was in Central Midfield again.

Adebayor 6.6: Tried a turn-shot which was easily saved. Hesitated for ages and didn't hit the target at all. Should have scored.

van Persie 8.3: Phenomenal from FA Cup Captain Marvel. Was the most motivated player on Arsenal's side. His snap-shot flew inches above the bar and gave the fantastic assist to Bendtner.

Subs:

Vela 7.1: Was great on the left side of midfield. Gave Arsenal the depth it needed.

Bendtner 1.0, 7.7 ( Off-pitch, On-pitch ). : If he didn't score, he would have been killed by Wenger for telling Muamba the tactics. A great finish though.

Post

Arsenal 1-1 'Pool

A rather stupid draw where our two star players ( Ade and Cesc ) were sent off and injured respectively. The least Xabi Alonso could do is to join Arsenal as compensation.

Ratings:

Almunia: 7.2 Saved well from Lucas and Kuyt, scared the crap out of that loser El Zhar and positioned well from corners.

Sagna: 6.7 Consistently Average. Provided a killer pass to Adebayor who attempted to trick Reina.

Djourou: 6.3 Has to be blamed for Keane's goal but did well later on.

Gallas 7.1: Had Gerrard in his pocket and even looked for an equaliser late on.

Clichy 7.0: Gael Force has assisted us once again, also putting Kuyt and Babel in his pocket.

Denilson 6.8: Looked really determined when Adebayor was sent off (!@#!%) and showed true character. This coming from a 20 year old Brazilian.

Fabregas 6.9: Mr. Captain was dragged off at half-time but was lively in the first half.

Song 6.8: Defensively calm and looked equally determined when Arsenal were with 10 men.

Nasri 7.3: Easily the man-of-the-match but his award was stolen by someone else. Played with real dexterity and truly tricked his way around the defence. Played an absolutely sensational ball to van Persie who scored a real cracker.

Adebayor: 6.5 Was a real handful until he was given a double yellow (WTH!) which was one of the WORST decisions I have ever seen in my life.

van Persie: 7.8 "ROBIN, VAN PERSIE!" was all I heard at the stadium. A superb goal worthy of combating Bentley's fluke against us.

Subs:

ABOU!: 6.9 Misplaced several passes but was a nifty player all day long.

Eboue: 6.7 Er. Didn't know he was there.

MAN OF THE MATCH: ROBIN VAN PERSIE
FLOP OF THE MATCH: HOWARD WEBB

Post

Happy New Year to all of you gooners, chelskers, manures and livers.

I haven't covered the following results and news:

Boro' 1-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-1 'Pool
Noobs 2-2 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-0 Tony Adams

Boro:

It was a pretty weak performance in the first half but the gunners looked a lot more dangerous in the second half. We thoroughly deserved to win the game but as it went with all matches, we lacked the KILLING TOUCH.

Ratings:

Almunia: 6.9 Had no chance with Aliadiere's powering header, but did well to keep out shots from Mido and Downing. Was shaky on set pieces as usual.

Sagna: 7.2 When attacking, he looks as dangerous as Walcott. When defending however, was slightly weak against Downing. Screamed "ABOU!" and gave away the game's tactics.

Clichy: 6.5 Gael Force wasn't enough in this game and gave away a needless goal from (guess what?) bad clearance. He was pretty alright for the rest of the game.

Djourou: 7.5 Yet another good showing from our Swiss Defender (not to be misunderstood as Swiss Flop Phillipe Senderos), keeping our ex-striker at bay.

Gallas: 6.8 Not one of his most assured performances but did his job. Didn't position people well on set-pieces and ought to be blamed slightly for the goal.

Song: 7.0 Fantastically Average.

Cesc: 8.2 Arsenal's best player of the night with vision, technique and passing. Another unbeaten match under him.

Denilson 6.2 Nothing to comment.

Diaby 6.5: Did well to trick round the defenders and made Arca have nightmares for months.

Adebayor: 7.8 Did well to score from a header thanks to some bad defending and was generally dangerous around the penalty area.

Van Persie 6.1 Our flop of the first-team, absolutely awful in attack and barely kept the ball well.

Subs:

BENDTNER ( WHAT THE ****? ): 2.0 WHAT THE HELL IS WITH THIS GUY!!! Had 2 chances, squandered the first and got selfish for the second, rather than passing to Adebayor.

FLOP OF THE NIGHT: NICKLAS BENDTNER
MAN OF THE MATCH: FRANCESC SOLER FABREGAS

Test

Took me a long time to get motivated to write again, but I'm here.

Results while I was away:

Spuds 4-4
Stoke 1-2
Fener 0-0
Manure 2-1
AV 0-2
Citeh 0-3
Kyiv 1-0
Chelski 2-1 ( at Bridge O.o)
Wigan 1-0

Not too handsome from the Gunners but winning ugly feels as good as winning beautifully.

10 important things noted while I was away:

1. Djourou might just be the solution to our problem, pairing with Gallas or Toure. He is simply horrendous with Silvestre. His headers are brilliant and he is a reliable (except at Chelsea) tall towering centre-half.

2. Eboue is showing more desire in play, but brilliantly misplaces every pass.

3. Give Song more playing time! In his recent game he had 56 passes, and 1 bad pass.

4. Bendtner is not Arsenal quality (see "list of 10 things I hate about Bendtner")

5. van Persie is a brace king.

6. I had a dream where Arsenal played Inter in the CL Finals. It got to pens where Eboue missed a penalty and Yaya in a Number 6 shirt scored. Bendtner then scored the winning penalty.

7. Liverpool will drop to 4th by February.

8. Cesc Fabregas will captain Arsenal for the next 5 years at least.

9. Vela is cool, sure. But not in front of an away crowd.

10. Arsenal are winning ugly. And that is a good sign.

Reading along the various editorials, I picked out an interesting one.

"10 Things I hate about Bendtner"

1. He has no finishing (4 one on one's in Burnley)

When the ball drops to his feet, there are only two outcomes. He either gets lucky with a finish, or misses miserably. ( Personally I don't agree with this. He is mechanical with ground balls but if terrific with aerial balls. He just needs to find his confidence. )

2. He can't see anything ( Aston Villa )

As soon as he is in possession all he ever does is pass in front of him OR dribble his way through the defence, normally to no avail. ( My sentiments exactly )

3. He can't control for nuts. ( Every game )

When he dribbles, his accuracy is mind-boggling, but his dribble distance is horrific. The amount of space he leaves between himself and the ball after each dribble is horrific. ( True, but he is pretty strong on the ball. )

4. He enjoys staying in a spot so that he can dive. ( Reserves 2006, 2007 CL, 2008 Porto )

He stays in a perfect area where if anyone touches him, he can fall flat on the floor for a penalty.

5. His first touch is either perfect or dismal. ( Most games )

Who could forget the fantastic flick in the CC, or the first touch goals he scored? Or the header at Spurs with his first touch as a sub, and generally several amazing backheel passes.

Nor could anyone forget touches after Fabregas' fantastic through balls. Where he would knock the ball so far from him it got closer to the corner flag.

6. He drags and drags... and drags... then scores or misses. ( Some games, including Manure)

He is like a less progressive version of Abou Diaby. He drags the ball with him rather then actually dribbling. He makes an easy situation difficult, the simplest of chances complicated and worst still, blocks his own teammate in the most dramatic clash in the CL between Arsenal and Liverpool. ( Hmm. I guess so. )

7. His headers are so straight!

His headers are about just the opposite of Adebayor's. Adebayor always heads the ball down but he instead, loves powering them at the keeper.

8. Arsene Wenger keeps on letting him play!

There must be something about him that makes Wenger play him despite the twat he is.

9. He ALWAYS redeems himself!

Just when he has had several bad performances and the axe is about to drop on him, he scores at brilliant timings to redeem himself. How frustrating considering he does it consistently.

10. His arrogance.

Need I say more?

Next match:

FC Porto vs. Arsenal

AW has decided to field the CC youngsters again, and I frankly, won't have any complaints.

Predicted Line-up (Predicted performance rating):

----------------Vela(8)----------------Bendtner(7)---------------

Diaby?(7)------Denilson(7.5)----------Song(7)----------Eboue(7.5)

Gibbs(7)-------Djourou(8)------------Gallas(7)---------Hoyte(6.5)

Predicted score: 1-2

Media Prediction: 2-2

Subs:
Wilshere (Diaby)
Ramsey (Denilson)
Simpson (Bendtner)

Possibly?

Fenerbahce vs. Arsenal

Fenerbahce 2-5 Arsenal.

What does this signify?

It's simple, really.

Arsenal will win the Champions League. How do I know that?

If Fenerbahce can go unbeaten in 15 games, and beat Chelsea 2-1 at that, and Arsenal with 3 of their back 4 missing, playing 4-5-1 without van Persie can beat them, it only shows one thing.

Absentees make a team stronger and Arsenal have the "Character" needed to win the CL.

Anyway, back to the game.

The first 5 minutes were pretty damn gritty, as Daniel Guiza (Who was supposed to come to Arsenal -.-) smashed a piledriver into Almunia's face in the exact same way Ronaldo smashed it into Lehmann's face.

Cesc Fabregas was getting impatient, floating several passes into the box, but to no avail as no one really bothered to attempt going through 5 men just to try a header.

Then in the 10th minute, pure vision from Fabregas as he sent a pass between the 2 center-halves to Adebayor, who blazed towards the goal, the defenders lazily jogging towards him ( lol nub! ) Walcott almost got offside from touching the ball but got away quickly.

Frankly, I thought Adebayor would miss but he clipped it into the bottom corner for his 7th goal in 10 appearances. In great form.

In the 11th minute, Fabregas played the exact same pass (Aragones was like, WTH?) to Walcott, who cooly rounded the keeper and slotted it in with composure.

2-0 in 11 minutes at Istanbul.

If you stare more closely at your TV set, or if you were at Istanbul watching the match (Less than 3000 people bothered to), you would notice that the Fenerbahce fans were already leaving the stadium. Haha..

Diaby then had some nifty footwork, step-overs and flip-flaps whatsoever in true Joga-Fashion.
He crossed it low along the 6-yard box to Nasri, who blasted it towards goal. Unfortunately, a great save denied what would have been the shock result of the season.

Song got a needless yellow card from impeding Guiza, and the resulting free kick was taken by Alex, headed by Guiza and Silvestre, in a hurry to clear it put his foot in the air, sending it into the wrong net.

2-1 in 19 minutes. 3 goals from Arsenal though.

Silvestre was pretty embarrassed but made up for it by sending a long ball to Diaby, who again, tricked 3 defenders, and calmly shot the ball into the narrow goalpost with his left-foot.

I remember there was a game when Diaby had 80-90 touches, all with his right foot, and yet he was entertaining us with his left foot this time.

3-1 to the Arsenal.

After that Guiza got a goal from a volley, but was correctly ruled offside. He was 2 yards of and frankly, I think that he deserved a yellow-card or a warning for continuing play despite knowing he was offside.

The half ended after the second-striker of Fener had a 1 on 1 with Almunia, who made him look like a bloody noob.

The second half started pretty much like the first, Arsenal dominating possession.

Then Nasri got fouled along the outside of the box, and the crappy defender got a yellow for a clumsy tackle on our injury-prone player.

Free kick, head, head and a header from Silvestre to Song's feet, who volleyed it impressively.

Another one on one was saved by Almunia, but a long ball from Alex carelessly headed behind by Song gave Guiza the opportunity to lob Almunia (Lucky).

The rest of the game was pretty much Arsenal.

Then in the last 20 minutes, Ramsey was subbed in.

He played several audaciously long balls, all failing or not making an impact. He only made an impact at the last minute of the game, as Eboue gave him a simple ball, and he placed the shot towards the goal. It hit the post and bounced in, in true ruthless fashion for the Fener fans.

2-5. Game over.

Ratings:
Almunia: 9.1 He just seems to get better and better and better each game! Survived 3 gruelling 1 on 1's.
Song: 7.6 He just can't play on the right-back position. Looked much better in CB. But made a bad mistake though.
Eboue: 8.3 He played pretty well in RB, his natural position but wandered around too much.
Silvestre: 8.1 Watchful defending from the veteran defender, scored an own goal but really couldn't help it.
Clichy 8.5: Absolutely brilliant from the young but old defender. He tricked the crap out of the strikers and was a nightmare for Guiza.
Diaby: 9.4 Omg. Omg. Omg. Omg. GENIUS!!! He looks like the package promised, the all-rounder attacking mid. Gave the defence hell with fantastic tricks and shot, made Edu look like a bloody semi-pro player.
Fabregas 9.1 2 assists and several tricky runs and passes. A standard performance from the best attacking-holding-striking central midfielder.
Denilson 8.7 He looks more and more like a partner to Cesc. Didn't defend fantastically well though. It looks like we still do need Yaya.
Walcott 8.6 Great composure in finishing and gave Roberto Carlos the ownage of his life with his speed.
Nasri 8.2 Was overshadowed by his team-mates, didn't play particularly well but had several tricks up his sleeve.
Adebayor 8.6 A all-round good performance from the Togo goal-machine. If he continues scoring, he can break his previous year record. It is also worth mentioning he has scored 7 times and assisted 5 in 10 appearances.

MotM: Abou Diaby.

Sub of the Match: Aaron Ramsey.

Arsenal vs. Everton

Back to the stands!

Arsenal 3-1 Everton

( Some retard 10", Nasri 48", Van Persie ( Header, what the.. ) 76", Theo Walcott 90" )

By far the best performance of the season. An amazing comeback by Arsenal. When the first goal came in, I expected 2-1, or 1-1.

In the second half, Wenger's half-time team talk, probably a huge scolding I suppose changed the game a whole lot. Walcott and Clichy were clearly the ones making the big differences.

MotM: Theo Walcott

Ratings:

Almunia: 7.9: Made several decent saves.
Clichy: 8.6: Ran like a mad man and was generally lively too
Toure: 7.8 : Not bad, cleared several times but got injured.
Song: 7.6: An average performance
Silvestre 8.2: A great debut performance by the veteran defender, cleared the ball like the mad man he is.
Nasri 8.3: Finished an amazing goal from 20 metres. Played many good tricks.
Fabregas 8.1: Erratic shooting but made many key passes.
Denilson 7.1: Nearly transparent, barely made any impact in the game, disappointing when you compare it with his previous performances.
Eboue 8.1: A surprisingly good performance by the under-rated world-class utility player.
Adebayor 8.2: Was indecisive in shooting, but made the first assist and played the second one in.
Van Persie 8.6 Was great in shooting and passing, composed. Scored the second goal with a well-placed header.

Subs-

Abou Diaby 7.6: Not bad, made the first assist and some good passes
Theo Walcott 8.9: A genius performance by the wonder-kid right winger. Created one, shot another and made Jagielka look like a fool.

Arsenal vs. Everton Preview

Saturday will be bloody important.

Yes. Bloody important.

Arsenal's form has been a little erratic in the PL, and luck has not been on our side ( at all ).
Disallowed goal at Sunderland.

Gallas, Bendtner and Sagna are out, while Fabregas is likely to be on the bench.

For the Gallas injury, I don't know if I should be happy or sad. Djourou will get a chance to play but is it that worth it? I know many criticize Gallas for Birmingham City last year, but think about it.
What would YOU have done if you were in his position?

Bendtner out could give Vela a chance to perhaps start for the PL for the first time.

Sagna will probably be taken over by Toure, with Song and Djourou in central defence. Or Eboue may finally get his favourite right-back position. Remember how good he was there?

Denilson and Diaby may just start, but for now:

---------------------Adebayor---------------Van Persie-----------------------

--Nasri-------------Denilson-----------------Fabregas--------------Walcott

--Clichy------------Song---------------------Djourou---------------Toure

-----------------------------Almunia-----------------------------------------

Prediction: 3-1

Media Prediction: 1-0 ( Yeah right.. )

The Emirates will be expectant.. That's for sure.

Man to watch: Fabregas - The midfield genius has finally broken his goalscoring duck. Can he regain his form and score on Saturday?

Expect surprises, as Wenger may even opt for the not-so-effective 4-5-1, or the much called for 4-3-3.

In the other news, Yaya Toure will most probably be leaving Barca, to Juve or Arsenal. He will probably come to Arsenal as they have a better manager, and his brother ( Much blacker than him. No pun intended ) is playing there.

Sub to Watch: Aaron Ramsey - After scoring against the England U21s, will he be able to break his goalscoring duck too?

Opponent Watch: Everton's form is like crap, expect no surprises.

Predicted Scorers: Adebayor, Fabregas, Denilson, Walcott

If Wenger says we gonna win the UCL, you just have to believe him. The last time he said that, we got to the finals and lost thanks to bad refereeing and a certain eccentric keeper ( Guess Who? O.o )

I think this year, we will see another upset. Arsenal will beat a club at their home.

Remember...

Juventus ( Cesc )
Real Madrid ( Henry )
Internazionale ( Henry )
AC Milan ( Cesc )

Gunners Forever!

Fabianski Happy On The Bench

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has revealed he is happy at the Emirates despite being unable to displace Manuel Almunia as Arsene Wenger’s first choice stopper.

The Pole, 23, signed for Arsenal from Legia Warsaw back in 2007 but has yet to force his way into the starting line up in North London and remains Almunia’s understudy.

Whilst he is struggling for appearances in the Premier League, his international career looks promising and he is part of the Polish squad preparing to face the Czech Republic this weekend.

However, speaking to MF DNES, Fabianski revealed he was happy to bid his time at Arsenal and wait for the right opportunity.

“I am not complaining at all,” said the Pole before adding, “Arsenal are a fantastic club and I have been learning a lot.”

Manuel Almunia replaced Jens Lehmann as the Arsenal number one, and at 31, should have plenty of seasons left in the top flight, yet Fabianski hopes his continued improvement will provide the Spaniard with stiff competition.

"Unfortunately I have not managed to become first-choice keeper yet and for a goalkeeper it is important to play often. But I am happy for every chance I get,” admitted Fabianski, "I have been fighting hard and becoming better with every single game."

Fabianski also revealed he had much sympathy for Rosicky and his current plight, and admitted that the absence of the Czech had been a blow for the Gunners.

“I hoped we would meet each other at international level this weekend, but that is not going to happen,” said Fabianski before concluding, “I am very sorry for him. However, they ended up pulling out of the bidding war, allowing Diogo to move to Olympiacos of Greece.

Arsenal To Make Offer For Afellay?

According to The Sun, Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger is seriously interested in signing PSV playmaker Ibrahim Afellay. The Gunners are ready to table an €8million offer for the highly-rated midfielder.
However, it remains to be seen if the Eindhoven side will even consider such an offer. Afellay was repeatedly linked to Italian giants Roma last summer and PSV boss Jan Reker set an asking price of €15million for the Holland international.
Wenger has been searching for another midfielder for a while, following the departures of Mathieu Flamini and Aliaksandr Hleb, but failed to satisfy the Arsenal supporters with a new midfield signing in the summer. The French manager especially admires Afellay's versatility and a January move could be possible if PSV are willing to enter into negotiations.Afellay is a product of the PSV youth academy and made his debut in 2003. The 22-year-old has already made 87 league appearances for the Eredivisie side, netting 16 times. He has also won several international caps with Oranje.

Arsenal vs Sunderland report

okay. So we drew against Sunderland. BUT WAIT. Try asking any of the other top 4 to concede at like the 85th minute and see if they can come back? Its quite a clear cut answer. NO!!V.persie also had a goal disallowed and a good chance wasted. But moreover Arsenal played very well.. I am sure we will beat Everton(which is the next match) easily.
Player ratings for Sunderland match.
Almunia 7.5
Did well except for conceding that goal.
Sagna 7.2
Gave Chimbonda a hard time but final ball was lacking.
Gallas 7.6
Organised defence well but was too casual at times.
Toure 7.1
Went up too often and also to no avail.
Clichy 7.7
Put in several crosses which strikers failed to convert.
Walcott 5.9
Hardly affected the game and almost gave Cisse the chance for the opening goal.
Denilson 6.4
Was missing at times and like Walcott, failed to affect the game.
Fabregas 7.8
Scored that crucial goal and was very creative.
Song 6.1
Sloppy in the passing. Perfect children's day present to those who support Arsenal. RVP giving Arsenal the lead and was soon followed by an classic header goal by Emmanuel Adebayor. Those were the goals for 1st half.

Just 2mins into the 2nd half, Arsenal were cruising after van persie detered till the end and slot home to the low corner.Samir Nasri looked very sharp after his injury and had a chance to give Arsenal the 4-0lead only to find his shot wide and another 25 yarder flew brilliantly into the Porto keeper's left corner only to find his effort saved. Then, Bendtner, Vela and Eboue came on. The game changed and Vela proved to be a future talent. Bendtner found himself in the box from a Vela pass but sadly he was brought down, Adebayor then convertred the penalty to hand Arsenal and Wenger a brilliant win.
Ratings
Almunia 8.2
Sagna 8.6
Gallas 8.7
Toure 8.5
Clichy 9.1
Walcott 9.0
Denilson 8.1
Fabregas 8.4
Nasri 9.2
V.persie 9.6
Adebayor 9.5
SUBS
Eboue 7.4
Vela 8.5
Bendtner 8.6

Owned.

Blackburn 0-4 Arsenal

Yeah! We owned the crap out of Blackburn!!

Some historic Moments of the match...

Wilshere is officially the youngest debutant in Premier League.
Adebayor nets 3rd PL Hat-trick.
Adebayor reaches 50 goals for Arsenal.

MotM: Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor

Honourable Mentions: Aaron Ramsey ( Assist on debut!! O.o)
Theo Walcott ( Main Torturer of opponents, 1 assist )
Robin van Persie ( 1 goal )
Denilson ( As hardworking as a bull, 1 assist )
Eboue ( Sacrificing himself for a penalty )

Ratings:

Manuel Almunia: 7.4 Deserves more credit than he gets. Saved well once and generally commanded his area well.

Gael Clichy: 7.2 A stereotypical performance from the top-class left winger of the BPL. Made several good runs.

Kolo Toure: 7.6 He was a rock at the back of the defence. Cleared critically twice and blocked one good shot.

William Gallas: 7.3 Much better from the French defender. Communicated well with the midfield.

Bakary Sagna: 7.5 He tried really hard and made a rather large amount of impact. Some crucial runs.

Emmanuel Eboue: 7.4 He's getting better and better! Botched only 1 pass. Shot on target from 20 yards once and sacrificed himself for greater good.

Francesc Fabregas: 7.6 Orchestrated the midfield and showed his skills by placing several good crosses and passes to the offside Adebayor

Denilson Perez: 8.2 Tried so hard to help Arsenal and did. One top-drawer cross and Adebayor scored a goal.

Theo Walcott: 8.9 An all-rounded performance from our Wonderkid. Made many quality runs and passes, but was too selfish at times.

Robin van Persie: 8.6 Played selfishly sometimes but tried to assist too. Stable finishing and fast running. Somewhat like Overmars.

Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor: 9.6 Played unselfishly, and was generally a good team player. Tried to pass to no avail many times. Was offside sometimes but was a hat-trick hero anyway. Took his penalty very calmly and made Robinson look like a complete idiot by rounding him and slotting it in with composure.

Another awesome performance by the Gunners away.

Last 5 games ( Excluding Fulham ):

F.C. Twente 0-2 Arsenal
( Gallas, Adebayor )

Arsenal 1-0 West Brom
( Nasri )

Arsenal 4-0 F.C. Twente
( Nasri, Gallas, Walcott, Bendtner )

Arsenal 3-0 Newcastle United
( van Persie, van Persie, Denilson )

Arsenal 4-0 Blackburn Rovers
( van Persie, Adebayor, Adebayor, Adebayor )

Come on you gunners!!

P.S. Samir Nasri ROX!!

My predictions for Arsenal 09/10

09/10 will be a very very important season for Arsenal.

At least 1 trophy is needed.
