Arsenal goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has revealed he is happy at the Emirates despite being unable to displace Manuel Almunia as Arsene Wenger’s first choice stopper.
The Pole, 23, signed for Arsenal from Legia Warsaw back in 2007 but has yet to force his way into the starting line up in North London and remains Almunia’s understudy.
Whilst he is struggling for appearances in the Premier League, his international career looks promising and he is part of the Polish squad preparing to face the Czech Republic this weekend.
However, speaking to MF DNES, Fabianski revealed he was happy to bid his time at Arsenal and wait for the right opportunity.
“I am not complaining at all,” said the Pole before adding, “Arsenal are a fantastic club and I have been learning a lot.”
Manuel Almunia replaced Jens Lehmann as the Arsenal number one, and at 31, should have plenty of seasons left in the top flight, yet Fabianski hopes his continued improvement will provide the Spaniard with stiff competition.
"Unfortunately I have not managed to become first-choice keeper yet and for a goalkeeper it is important to play often. But I am happy for every chance I get,” admitted Fabianski, "I have been fighting hard and becoming better with every single game."
Fabianski also revealed he had much sympathy for Rosicky and his current plight, and admitted that the absence of the Czech had been a blow for the Gunners.
“I hoped we would meet each other at international level this weekend, but that is not going to happen,” said Fabianski before concluding, “I am very sorry for him. He loves football and Arsenal have missed him.”
